E X I T 8 2 :  A TOMS RIVER THEATRE COMPANY, INC.

Hey all! We are in the thick of rehearsals for ON THE TOWN! We open in about 5 weeks, which is very exciting! I will be posting little video clips of rehearsals and photos whenever I get the chance - so to start things off, here is a photo taken by cast member Steven Brandt:

The cast list is up!  Thanks to everyone who auditioned, we saw a ton of talented people and we ended up with a really great cast. Rehearsals begin tomorrow, and I am really excited. What a great group of people we have! I can't wait to show them off to the public - July can't come soon enough. We'll keep updating you as rehearsals continue! Congratulations, On the Town Cast!

Greg and Exit 82!

So we were just a featured artist at the Downtown Arts and Music Festival on Saturday which was a lot of fun! It turned out to be a really beautiful day which was nice. Greg drew some really funny caricatures of some of the members and also of the ON THE TOWN promotional poster. We will definetly put those up on the website soon! Speaking of ON THE TOWN.... two weeks from tonight is our first rehearsal!!! We are counting down until auditions.... can't wait =)

Hey all!

Recently, I've been very "Lucky to be Me." Not only will I be working with a very talented production team this summer, but I get to see and hear everyone's ideas before they hit the stage!

We started discussing concepts and artistic choices for the sets and costumes for the show at yesterday's production meeting. Here is the first "behind the scenes" look at the set: my initial sketch for the ON THE TOWN Backdrop:

This custom drop will be hand-sewn and hand-painted specifically for our production by our scenic artists. My plan for this drop is to create a larger-than-life caricature of the city. It has to give us the impression that we are directly in the midst of the hustle and bustle of city life. It has to be fun.

Greg and EXIT 82

Hey all!

Welcome to another exciting week for EXIT 82! Tomorrow is our second production meeting, and this one is all about ON THE TOWN! Designers will be on hand to show us some sketches and talk concepts for costumes and scenery (and we may post some photos of them online in the coming weeks, so stay tuned). New Director Katie Gallagher and Assistant Director Greg Johnson will discuss the style and pacing of the show, and what they'll be looking for from potential actors at auditions.

We will be finalizing our rehearsal schedule and planning our performance spot at the Arts and Music Festival in Downtown Toms River on May 16! Tickets are also now on sale; you can get them through our website here.

EXIT 82 has had an exciting week and we hope you are as excited as we are for our premier show to begin! Auditions are exactly three weeks from today!

We just updated the website with a character description on our Audition Page! We also just finished off a bowl of chips and salsa left over from the kick off party, (thanks Chili's!!) while listening to Tommy... hence the title of the blog. The first Production Staff meeting is next week where we will be discussing concepts for the show, auditions, etc. The rest of our Production Staff applications are due this Thursday, ahh decisions decisions! I wonder if anyone actually reads these blogs, this next sentence is a test. Next summer we will be doing Annie, Bye Bye Birdie, Grease Jr., and Guys and Dolls.... totally kidding kill us now. Now we are going for ice cream =)

We want to thank the people of the community who came out to support EXIT 82 at our Kick Off Party! We had a great turnout - it was so nice to see all of you today, and we hope you'll continue to support the company as we start our summer 2009 season!

We are so excited to be doing ON THE TOWN this summer, so stay tuned for more updates about the show and the auditions!
