Audition Tips and Suggestions
WHAT TO PREPARE?
All performers will be asked to complete both a VOCAL and DANCE audition. The following information is required for a general audition:
For the VOCAL Audition, please be prepared to sing approximately 16 bars of a song of your choice that you feel best compliments your vocal range and style. It it helpful if the song is in a similar style to that of the show you are auditioning for. Please bring the correct sheet music in the appropriate key or appropriate accompaniment if you can (we do not recommend singing a capella).
For the DANCE Audition, please wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict your movement. You will be taught a short series of choreographed steps and then asked to perform them in small groups. Choreographers will be on hand to assist you.
Callbacks
What are Callbacks? Callbacks are essentially a second audition, designed to give the director a better look at specific people. Callbacks are for specific roles only, and do not guarantee casting.
Certain roles will be cast from the Callbacks. Also note that many roles will be cast without callbacks, so do not be discouraged if you are not called back.
WHAT TO PREPARE
Nothing. At the Callbacks, we will provide you with copies of scenes that we would like you to read, and we will teach you a song from the show that we will ask you to perform. Depending on the production, there may be a second dance audition.
